Social Innovation-Technology and Disaster Recovery: Creating Opportunities for Global Exchange – International Social Work Conference 2016
In light of this, the Asian & Pacific Islander Social Work Educators Associations (APISWEA) in the United States, in collaboration with the Philippine Social Work Consortium (PSWC) chaired by the National Association for Social Work Education Inc. (NASWEI) in the Philippines and the Consuelo Foundation is set to stage the International Social Work Conference on July 5 and 6, 2016 at the Manila Hotel.
This is APISWEA’s 6th Annual Conference and is first in the Philippines, sponsored by the United Nations’ Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations’ International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).This year’s conference theme is “Social Innovation-Technology and Disaster Recovery: Creating Opportunities for Global Exchange”.
According to Dr. Qingwen Xu, President of APISWEA, Co-Chairperson ICSW 2016, the conference aims to raise wide-ranging, substantial and meaningful discussions on issues related to disaster recovery highlighting evidence-based social work practices, theory development, innovative methods in service delivery and education geared at improving disaster resilience, social innovation, community development, livelihood restoration, and the promotion of social justice.
The event was attended by about 100 foreign delegates from US and Asian countries together with the 200 delegates from the Philippines are expected to attend on this two-day international Social Work Conference.
Newly Appointed Social Work Secretary Judy Taguiwalo; Former DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman; Dr. Lolita Pablo, Chair, PSWC, and Dr. Xu, were the guest of honors on the conference.
